Ethical Website Promotion

Filed under: Business Building — Fran @ 4:45 pm

It seems to me that you have to ask yourself a couple important questions when you decide to start a business….

  • What type of business do I want to build?
  • What kind of client do I want to attract?

Those may seem like rather basic and some how un-inspired questions but don’t let their simplicity fool you.

When I say decide what type of business you want to build I don’t mean, do you want to sell cheese doodles or rubberbands. I mean, what is the purpose of your business?

Look down the road a couple years…what “culture” would you want to have in your business. And yes, culture matters even if you are a one person business.

Because your culture involves your relationship with your clients and your partners you must decide ahead of time how you want to establish and maintain those relationships.

It seems today that there are a lot of marketers just looking for the wham bam quickie and show absolutely no interest or respect in their “list”.

If you are actually interested in building a business, not just a site that generates temporary revenue…but, a real business that provides value and produces income - you must establish a culture.

Both of the questions above are inter-related. Your relationship with your clients is entirely dependent on the type of business you establish. If you are out for the money with no regard for your clients’ needs - you will work a numbers game….

Build your list any way you can and throw offers at them and see what sticks. You can generate a pretty darn good income doing this - there are a lot of marketers proving this.

But for those of you who are more interested in your life and your work having some meaning and providing some value to others - you want a list of like minded clients.

Search out for clients who, like you, are interested in quality and value. By doing this you actually help yourself. Imagine that, do the right thing and it benefits you too!

When you don’t hype or inflate the value of your product you automatically eliminate those who will never invest money in you. The reason is that - the ones who are only out for what they can get from you are looking for the big freebie score.

They won’t be interested in your free resource if you tell them its actual value is $19.00. Offer that same item and tell a group of people it is actually worth $197.00 and they will opt-in every time.

Don’t go for the quick list building strategies if you are serious about your relationship with your clients. Your business will be healthier in the long run.

Maintain the same core concepts as your business grows and you will discover that you can build a very large business with a healthy, happy, large list of clients eager to hear what you have to say and consider the producs and services you offer.

Trust is a wonderful thing!

Is A Mentor Required for Online Success?

Filed under: Journal, Business Building — Fran @ 10:05 pm

No matter what business you are in or what products/services you provide - you know you need a web presence….which means, whether you like it or not you are going to need to take the leap into the world of internet marketers.

If you haven’t already had the pleasure of getting on a few internet marketers mailing lists - you are missing out witnessing first hand the latest internet “business” hat trick.

There really is nothing like being one of the scammed while it is happening. I mean, what a self-revelation it is to actually witness yourself falling for the “get rich tonight” scams.

How many different sales letters did you fall for? Hey, I am not making fun - or poking at anyone’s ego - we can compare notes and see who spent more money…betcha I win! (and I’m not even competitive).

Just like the first internet boom - companies that don’t make anything, don’t stock anything, don’t create, invent, support, supply, deliver….they don’t do anything but sell a hat trick.

Now, don’t get me wrong - I am not talking about the business of “affiliate marketing”. Affiliate marketing is a valid business model. It is a model of information distribution and is a valid business model.

Information brokering is actually a valuable service.

What I find especially disturbing is when the information is regurgitated by some no talent hack who simply copies what he/she has read and makes out like it is their own. Or worse yet, when the so called expert selling someone else’s product is acting like they themselves have elevated themselves to some guru level.

Again, I’m not referring to the person who learns something and repeats it in his own way… there are not a lot of truly innovative ideas or products - someone has got to re-work old ideas. It is done every day and has a very valid place in business.

There is a lot of room in almost every industry for a new voice about an old idea. Different takes on the same theories allow for more understanding and widespread distribution of the information.

The bug in my shorts is about the ones who don’t know how to do what it is they are selling But that doesn’t stop them from representing themselves as experts.

The internet marketing industry is a primary example - not the only example. I could just as easily be ranting about fake psychics! But, I’m talking about internet marketers because my 50 grand was not spent on fake psychics!

I learned the hard way that most of the so called guaranteed success strategies being sold today are just bunk - smoke and mirrors.

Don’t fall for the earnings promises of those $27, $47, $97 info products. Stick with the real deal.

If I would have hired my mentor from day one - (imagine, me actually having a plan as to how I would build my online business BEFORE I quit my job…hmmmm, interesting concept) - I would have spent at least 1/5 th the amount of money and saved at least 12 months of my time.

When I finally came to the realization that I was a sucker - yeah, I can be sold by any pretty red, white and blue sales letter - I broke down and hired a coach for newbies. Very good move.

He taught me all about squeeze pages and the basics of affiliate marketing. Good start.

Once I surpassed the newbie level - I hired the best internet marketing coach online. Yeah, his program was expensive - but trust me, if you are serious about building a business there is no room for compromise.

I wanted a real solid business model and processes that could support growth. There is nothing worse than setting up a marketing campaign and having it succeed and then your systems are unable to keep up with the demand.

Just as important, you must also have a follow up system in place….and I’m not talking about an auto-responder. I am referring to a real business strategy.

There is no faster way to loose customers than to not have solid business processes in place. So many new online businesses are worried about getting traffic - when what they should really be worried about is creating a great system and value to keep the traffic once you get it.

If you plan to do more than just run campaign after campaign - starting from scratch each time….

If you have any integrity and responsibility to your prospective clients…

If you have any desire to build a business…

You must hire a mentor!

If you can’t handle the price of a full blown coaching program and you don’t have the confidence in yourself to put the bill on a credit card - you can build your confidence in that coach by subscribing to their free newsletters and e-books.

You can try free trial products like this one:
secretstotheirsuccess

You can get some of the entry level programs they offer until you are convinced they are the real deal.

I know if several incredible marketers - but only one I would recommend to start your online business. There are others that you can safely use once you get your foundation set - others that can take you to incredible heights of success…

But, if you are new to online marketing or you have been struggling for a while - I can only recommend one company and one mentor.

If you’re at all serious about making money with your own online business, then it is essential that you carefully consider the deal I want to make with you today…

Focus or Multi-Tasking

Filed under: Journal — Fran @ 3:29 pm

As I put the finishing touches on a book I am writing - I feel compelled to comment here a bit about multi-tasking.

I am writing a book for small business owners and would be entrepreneurs about organization and planning. One of the greatest errors I see people making in their lives is buying into the myth of multi-tasking.

As far as I am concerned if you don’t have enough time to focus all your energy on the task at hand - you are doing too much. I know some of you are immediately thinking how important your job is and I don’t know how busy your life is - I must not be talking about you.

For that matter, you might be thinking - I am pretty darn good at my job. I am a valuable asset to my organization - people around here rely on me. I hold this place together.

That is fine - you can continue to believe that and you are absolutely right. You are too busy. You are not however as good as you could be.

Your ability to reach levels of success despite the fact that you are not focused is a testament to your God given talent.

How is your energy? How balanced is your life? Do you have a life outside of work that anyone besides you would want to emulate?

Let me just mention that nothing really great - I don’t mean just being “one of the best” in your organization - I mean something really powerful and impactful to a lot of people. Nothing really amazing has ever been created by anyone without the ability to focus.

You must be able to live in the present moment to really excel at anything. That goes for personal or professional. How much better would your relationships be if you were actually 100% focused on your relationship instead of thinking of work or making your “to Do” list for tomorrow while spending time with your loved ones?

Your ability to stay present in every task you are performing is key to creating powerful and dramatic results in all areas of your life. When you are present in the moment your creativity is allowed to flow. You see things more clearly and devise new ways to solve problems or communicate.

You rise above the competitive mentality and by doing so you automatically lift yourself up to a higher plane. It is a funny thing -when you release your need for competition and allow yourself to be the best you possibly can - you inevitably create something so much more amazing than anything you could have created when all you were focused on was finishing a task and performing better than your co-workers.

Try it today. Pick one event or task today - and give it your undivided attention. If you are working out today - don’t listen to music or read a magazine. Focus entirely on the workout. If you are running or riding a bike - first try to meditate a bit - get your breathing under control.

(I don’t deny the power of distraction and even utilize some really creative trickery to quiet my left brain when I have to push through a long workout.  Just consider the theme of this article and try the experiment - you might find some great insights into your own mind and motivation).

Visualize yourself in an event - say you are training for a 5k or a marathon. See yourself in the event - running with ease. Breathing easy, body strong and lean…imagine your feet hitting the ground with the perfect pace. Feel how good it is to be in such a healthy and lean body. See yourself giving encouragement to other runners. Feel how great it is to run across the finish line - completely energized and ready to enjoy the day completely empowered by accomplishing the task.

Focus on your muscles - “see” them being strong and feel them full of endurance and power. You don’t have to have these strong images the entire time. You can go back to just focusing on your breathing. Just be there - don’t allow your mind to wonder off to tasks for the day.

When your mind begins to wonder or you think you want to quit - just remind yourself that the reason you are working out is that it is a choice that you made. You want to live a life that includes fitness and exercise - you are there because it is where you want to be.

When you are done - examine how you feel and how you perceived time during your workout. How would you rate your workout compared to the times you are “distracting” yourself with music or conversation.

Any thing you put your attention on will increase. If you focus on the outcome that you want while performing the task at hand - even if it is just a glimpse….you will not only complete your goal but you will reach levels of performance you have never reached before.

Business Owners - Must Have Tools

Filed under: Business Opportunities, Journal — Fran @ 3:38 am

I have spent thousands of dollars over the past 12 months on every “secret”, “seminar”, “course” and “tool” that internet marketers have to offer. Not a single product I bought actually helped me generate a dime of income!

What I did get was a huge loss to claim on my 2005 income taxes which initiated an IRS Audit! THANKS GOES OUT TO ALL THE GURU’S I BELIEVED IN.

Okay, I am all about no regrets and being thankful for everything that occurs in life - so I want you to know - I would not be here today (I don’t mean broke and scared of the IRS) without all of those failed attempts.

I believed every one of those beautifully written Blue, Red and Black Sales pages; I believed all of those testimonials about the thousands of dollars that were made the FIRST WEEK, heck, the FIRST DAY!

Maybe you aren’t as gullible as I am - hopefully you learn faster than I did…but, based on the folks I continue to hear on the conference calls I have attended I fear there are plenty of others just like me.

People who know that there is income to be made on the internet - and lots of it. People desperate to find out exactly how to do it. Just regular people willing to invest their own money and time to build a business - just looking for an honest coach to help get them started.

I will tell you right now that I am in the first stages of utilizing these tools I am proposing for your business. I am not claiming that I made an overnight fortune - heck , I am not claiming anything at all.

What I am saying is that I have seen so many programs and products that I finally have been able to identify something real when I see it.

I didn’t accidentally happen upon this stuff - although eventually I might have. I was blessed enough to have found a wonderful web designer who was helping me build my first website. We worked together for quite a while and began to partner on a couple of projects. I had the traditional marketing experience - he had the web marketing expertise.

Our relationship and respect for each grew and he began to reveal some of the real tools that are used by the so called guru’s as they sell us decoy’s to keep us poor, dumb and desperate.

I am absolutely profiting by your purchases - I believe in these products so much I signed up as an affiliate because I am going to tell everyone I know about them. Why not benefit a little?
Know that I am giving you exactly what I am using and no hype - no fluff. You won’t be overwhelmed with “free bonuses” or massive e-mail marketing. I don’t know what is worse - the money I spent on products that didn’t work or all the hours I spent sorting through all the “junk” that was offered as an “unadvertised bonus!” and the massive amounts of e-mails I received after purchasing the products.

Isn’t it funny how you can buy that “MUST HAVE” product that will “skyrocket your list building” - and then, before you ever see your product, you get offered something that costs twice as much that is a “SUPER MUST HAVE List Building” product? I mean really, if the marketing for the first product were true - what the heck do I need with the second product?

The ad makes me think that if I buy this first product I will have so much traffic I’ll be a millionaire by morning - but, once they get my name on their list - the backend offers start.

I guess the bigger question is why did I keep buying the products? And for heavens sake, why did I buy the backend offers? Why do you?

I wanted so badly to make money online - I just believed the ads. I just knew people were making money online and I knew I could too. So, if I just kept trying - I would eventually find a real program that would actually deliver on its marketing.

I guess I needed to be hit over the head pretty hard - but I finally got it. A little lighter in the wallet - but I got it!
And now, hopefully my experience will help save you some time and money.

I am going to let the sites speak for these products - I am not going to create a sales page. I am however, going to give you the information in a logical order in the format of a newsletter. This will give you time to really understand and begin to use the tools. Each newsletter will recommend one primary / business critical product as well as tips and additional resource materials.
Just take a look at all of them. From start to finish - you will receive the products you need to create a website, drive traffic, maintain high google rankings, create lists and earn a real living online.

Fellow Entrepreneurs!

Filed under: Journal — Fran @ 1:52 pm

Today is my first day of financial FREEDOM! I am officially 100% self employed Today.

What a feeling it was NOT to have the pit in my stomach yesterday as I anticipated going to “work” this morning. I got to the point of disliking my JOB so much that Sunday or the last day of a long weekend like New Years was spoiled.

Remember the scene in the 2001 movie, “Kate & Leopold”, where Meg Ryan’s character spends a beautiful weekend with Hugh Jackman’s character, the Duke from the 19th Century? Kate is miserable Saturday morning in anticipation of working the next day.

My weekends were just like that. BUT NOW, I am FREE! Stay tuned - I am planning to post my progress as I take this journey.

No guarantees except this - I will live “present in every moment” as much and as frequently as I am capable. Getting better at it all the time. The journey is the goal.

To Your Total Success
